I bought this mower despite some concerns raised by other reviewers. Specifically, I was worried about maneuverability, as I have many curved edges in my yard. Furthermore, I was anxious about the mower’s ability to deal with twigs and pine cones, as other reviewers complained that reel mowers get jammed by such things. My lot is roughly half an acre, heavily wooded, and level. Grass covers about 25% of the lot, with the remainder being natural (mostly pine needles).

Overall, the Fiskars Is high quality and feels durable.Assembly and blade adjustment is easy. I completed this task in less than 30 minutes. Cutting height adjustment is very fast. That’s all you need to do. Mowing is quite enjoyable. Some twigs and pine cones will stop this mower but it’s very easy to clear the obstruction and move on. Maneuverability is far better than I expected. Just push down on the handle to raise the front wheels and turn.

One thing you should know: the mower doesn’t do a great job cutting tall grass. If you tend let your grass grow too tall (5-6”), you probably won’t be happy with this. In addition, because I have a level yard, I cannot say how the mower would do on sloped yards.

Overall, I’m quite pleased with the mower. It’s high quality, easy to use, costs less than a good power mower, requires no fuel, makes very little noise, and needs no maintenance!

Comparing a Reel mower to one that uses gas or electric is unfair. Of course the reel mower takes longer to use, and as other reviewers have mentioned it sometimes it misses certain types of weeds. But over all I think it did an excellent job, and has a lot of benefits that a gas mower can't offer. You never have to buy gas or oil. It is practically silent. And it turns yard work into a light workout. Pushing the reel mower will make you sweat, but in a good way. It burns calories, makes you use the muscles in your back and arms, and gets your heart rate up. It's invigorating! We all need to mow are yard, so why not get some healthy exercise at the same time.

BUY THE MOWER NOW. I can't believe how much I love this reel mower. I have used gas powered my whole life and decided to make a change for the health of the planet and myself. I'm never going back to gas. It cuts while turning, it cuts moving backwards for a few seconds as long as the reels are spinning from forward movement. It cuts down my St. Augustine grass in South Florida like wheat before the scythe. Easy to assemble, use, clean, and lubricate. The cutting blades are a spinning cylinder of death so be careful. I wouldn't let children use it untrained and unsupervised. It's very light which makes it as easy to push, or slightly easier, than a heavy gas mower...even with front wheel drive.

The product is great. I have a lot of twigs in my yard and I was worried it would be a problem. It’s not as long as the sticks are laying flat and not too big. You do have to go over parts over and over. There is a weed that it just won’t cut but it’s only one so I can pull it. Sometimes the grass lays over after a few goes and you have to sort of stand it back up to get it. It’s not a mower for a perfectionist but it’s perfect for me. My yard is pretty small, just a strip in The front and about 70x50 in the back. I love this mower because it’s easy to use, soooo quiet, I don’t have to worry about gas, and it’s so much lighter than a regular mower. Also in case anyone is disabled, I have fibromyalgia and I was able to put this together and do my lawn with this. I actually think the vibration of a regular mower is worse for the fibromyalgia. The only negative about this is that it arrived broken as shown in pictures. I’m still using it but I don’t know how long it will last. Otherwise I would have given it five stars.

I live in San Antonio, Texas and my yard is fairly shaded in the front so I have St. Augustine grass there.However, the back gets full sun so we have planted Bermuda since it likes the sun and is drought resistant.Fine grasses like Zoysia and Bermuda should be cut low and with a reel mower instead of a rotary mower.My first reel mower was the Scotts 20-Inch Classic mower. I loved how quiet is was and it gave my grass a nice, clean cut.When I received my Fiskars mower I never thought that I would love it more than my Scott's, but I was wrong.

The Fiskars has more plastic than the Scott's but it is in nonessential components, like the front housing, which is more for appearance.It was pretty easy to put together, however you will need both an 11mm and an 18 mm wrench or socket.It feels a little "looser" than my Scots but that doesn't seem to be a problem.Between the time that I assembled it and the time that I completed my video review I used the mower over 10 times (I even cut several of my neighbors yards) so that I could give it a fair evaluation.I found that it was easier to push than my Scotts and was even quieter.I hope that this video review is helpful to you!

6/25/2013 UPDATE:I have had my Fiskars for over a year now and it is still going strong.I haven't had to sharpen the blade and it still cuts grass like a champ!

I love this reel mower. It has great instruction and many setting adjustments for cut heights and operator.I am 5’2” and often need to go on my tippy toes to push other mowers especially if the grass is tall.This one allows me to adjust the handle to my height.It adjust to taller grass 3 1/2”.Its a bit heavier than many newer reel mowers but similar in weight of older styles which I needed as my new turf was very tall and very thick.To push it is easy but if you need to pack it around a yard with stairs and so forth it may be a bit cumbersome.It’s more quite than previous ones and does a great job.

Purchased for use in Vancouver, where our (tiny) yard requires year-round maintenance.I've never had the urge to mow the lawn at 2 a.m. but with this fella, I know I can do it without fear of waking my neighbours.Because it doesn't have an engine, it's quite a bit easier to push than a powered mower; however, grass doesn't have that "freshly cut" look when I'm done.

Out-of-the-box, mine had a bent guide wheel mount.It doesn't really affect performance, but it's enough to lose a star.

I really, really wanted to like this push mower, but, as others have pointed out, it doesn't do well with certain weeds.
Also, while it is easy to push, it is quite heavy at 50 or so pounds.I have a few steps to go up and down from the storage unit and I have to carry it because I don't want to damage the blades. Other mowers can be tilted enough to let them rest on the back wheels while handling the steps.
If you have a nice, weed -free lawn, this is a good choice.

one of the handle pieces was bent and was unable to assemble the product - I went to take a picture to upload to my review and send to the company and tried again to assemble it.This time with much effort (and bruising) I was able to assemble it and it works well for mowing - but am still only giving it 3 stars given bent piece in box and difficulty to assemble as a result.One of the back wheels also keeps falling off and tried to have others put it on to see if it was how I was attaching it - but no matter how many people try to put it on - it keeps falling off after a few minutes of use so keep having to attach back over and over.....But it does mow well.
