Excelsior poultry pads are manufactured from Great Lakes aspen excelsior fibers and brown kraft paper.

Excelsior nest pads help to provide cleaner, fresher, better quality and more hatchable eggs. They are economical, easy to place in the laying nests and help in faster egg gathering. The eggs are on top, clean and fresh rather than having to hunt and dig for eggs as with some other products. They also draw moisture from droppings which drop to the paper below, out of the area in which the eggs are laid.

This all natural Aspen wood wool excelsior was created specially for chicken nesting boxes. The courser excelsior material is ideal for hen and chicken nesting boxes. Birds really like the natural feel and tend to spend more time nesting and in turn laying eggs. One of the biggest complaints I have from growers is that their birds will often scratch out other natural fibers from their nest, but our excelsior is a top choice. The courser strands feel more like their natural choice of twigs and straw. But, unlike straw, excelsior doesn’t have the “Weed Seeds” that sprout around the yard when clean-up the coop. This product is made from 100% Colorado Aspen that is carefully kiln dried to remove any moister that would promote mildew.
